Vibration Analysis of Beam With Varying Crack Location

چکیده
The importance of the beam and its engineering applications is obvious, and it undergoes different kinds of loading. Such loading may cause cracks in the beam. Crack depth and location are the main parameters for the vibration analysis of such beams. These cracks and their locations effect on the shapes and values of the beam frequency. So it becomes very important to monitor the changes in the response parameters of the beam to access structural integrity, performance and safety. In the current work, the natural frequency of a simply supported beam with a triangular crack, is investigated numerically by finite element method using of FE analysis software ANSYS. Different crack location effects are considered and the results are compared with that of the simply supported beam without crack. The results obtained from the vibration analysis of the beam show that the lowest fundamental frequency of the beam without crack is higher than the lowest frequency obtained for beam with cracks. When the location of the crack varies from the either end of the simply supported beam to the centre of the beam the lowest natural frequency decreases. متن کاملModal Testing and Finite Element Analysis of Crack Effects on Turbine Blades
The study of vibration response of a turbine blade helps to detect the crack presence in the blade which alters its dynamic characteristics. The change is characterized by changes in the modal parameters associated with natural frequencies. In this paper, study of vibration response is made for turbine blade in the presence of a crack like defect. Turbine blade is initially assumed as a cantile...

A complete investigation on the free vibration and stability analysis of beams made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) containing open edge cracks utilizing four beam theories, Euler-Bernoulli, Rayleigh, shear and Timoshenko, is performed in this research. It is assumed that the material properties vary along the beam thickness exponentially and the cracked beam is modeled as two segments ...

In the vibration of a cracked structure with small amplitude oscillations, the crack necessarily is not fully open or fully closed. Therefore, in order to provide a realistic model for the crack, one should relate the stiffness and damping at the crack location to the amount of the opening of the crack. In this study, a continuous model for vibration of a beam with a fatigue crack under low amp...
